Static website
A static site is built in advance instead of assembled per visitor. That makes it faster, safer and cheaper to host.

Hosting is the computer your website sits on and which hands it over when somebody types your address. Your domain name points at that computer; without hosting a domain name is an address with no building.
There are roughly three kinds. Shared hosting: your site sits with hundreds of others on one server, cheap. VPS or dedicated: you have your own capacity. And platform hosting for static sites, where there is no server for you to maintain, only files being served.
This site runs as a static site on a platform that only serves files. There is no database and no admin area online, which means there is nothing running to attack and the hosting costs a fraction of what a server with a database costs.
